The 1 in 10 Swim Challenge

Why not challenge yourself next year to some of the most beautiful swims in the UK and all within the Lake District?
1km in 10 lakes in 1 county in 1 day

Upon arrival in the Lake District, we start our weekend of fun with a delicious meal at Morrels Restaurant in Keswick on the Friday evening. After a stroll down to Derwentwater to watch the sunset, we jump into the minibus to be taken to Greendale in Wasdale on the shoreline of Wastwater for our first swim of the challenge. Once completed we will then get dry and changed before loading up and moving on to Loweswater then three miles or so further to 'Crummock South Beach' for Crummock Water and then on to Buttermere. The next part of the journey takes us up and over Honister Pass and onto Bassenthwaite Lake at Blackstock Point.

The sixth swim of the day, Derwentwater, will come after our breakfast which will be at The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in Keswick, where you will swim round Derwent Isle and see it like no-one else does.

Taking in the last of the Northern Lakes, we will head over to Glenridding to enjoy the southern tip of Ullswater with a 1k loop. At this point it should be mid to late afternoon and we still have three swims to complete before you can climb into bed!

Next on the list is found after passing over Hartsop and into Windermere, where we should take the ferry across the lake to find a suitable place to swim such as on the shore next to Harrowslack on the eastern shore. Leaving Windermere we travel through Hawkshead to drop down to Coniston for our penultimate swim at Monk Coniston, with another 1k loop.

Finally, we travel up to Rydal Water to finish off the challenge before heading back the couple of miles or so into Ambleside for Fish & Chips.

Once fed and refreshed we will all head to the Royal Hotel, Dockray for a good night's sleep. In the morning once you have had your full English breakfast the day is yours to relax. Perhaps you would be looking at walking to down to Aira Force or even catch the 'Steamer' from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge all before you head off home.

There are only 12 places on this tour, but we must secure six to make the tour viable.
