Swim on the Wild Side gives you the chance to build up to any competition with organised sessions at fantastic locations. We will start with acclimatising your body to the cold water, knowing that no matter how tough your pool training regime has been, nothing can prepare you for a 12°C or less open water swim!
Your stroke technique, while great in the pool, may not be what is required in the open water – we break down each aspect to discover a more efficient technique.
You’ll learn to draft throughout the race, which is important to save energy - and we will teach you this and many other valuable open water swimming techniques from start to finish.
Our Open Water Coaching sessions can be on a one to one basis or up to six in a group.
Many triathletes are reluctant to leave the comfort of the swimming pool, but Swim on the Wild Side have devised many training techniques to make this transition as painless as possible. We can offer coaching sessions on a one-to-one basis or in groups of up to fifteen. You’ll learn deep water start techniques, sighting and how to draft throughout the race, which is important to save energy - and we will teach you this and many other valuable open water swimming techniques from start to finish.
Our head coach, Neil Cooper, has over 30 years of coaching and holds a range of qualifications:
Neil has been head coach of a very successful triathlon club, taught many top coaches and coached complete beginners to European champions in Triathlon.
